Monday... day, what, 3 of having no water. I packed up my things and walked through the streets of Veracruz in my pajamas to get to the school and take a shower. I make it sound like a trek through the desert, but it was only one block :-)

Anyway, I arrived at the school, took a shower and had breakfast. This week's school schedule is a little strange. We don't have scheduled out and abouts because there are several world cup games of interest in the morning, so we can either go out or watch the game. This morning, I decided to studay, and Irma was helping me. After I got sick of studying I taught Irma a few choice english phrases that she can yell at her boyfriend, and then we took a little walk. It was waaaay too hot out, so we came back early.

My class started at 10:30 with my teacher Lucy, and Jessica and Alexis, the other students. We read stories and worked on vocabulary. I felt really stuck today, like nothing new was really sinking in. I think I was just in a really icky mood, too.

We had lunch then I went back to the house to take a nap. I had private lessons in the afternoon and I'm really going to work on my grammar so that I have it in my head when I take my ISU placement exam in July. During my second set of lessons with Divian I decided I needed a break from books and we set off to the aquarium.

The Veracruz aquarium is really nice... it's only about 1/4 of the size of Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, but I would say it is of the same calibur. It was inside the aquarium that I realized that I have a profound fear of big fish. Some of you may know that I went on a cruise a few years ago, and went snorkling for the first time and had a serious panic attack. That panic feeling started creeping in again today when I was standing in this tunnel where the fish are on top of you or on either side, and there were HUGE fish, and turtles and sharks. Yikes. I stepped away and I was fine, but let that be a lesson to me that even if I think I want to snorkle again, I'm going to need some intense therapy.

After visiting with the scary fish I went shopping in the aquarium plaza and bought myself some lovely earrings and found some other stuff that I may need to go buy later. I've made a list of things I need to do before I leave here, and one of them was to eat a lot of guacamole, so I went to the little corner store by the school and bought some avocados and went back to the kitchen and made the best guacamole I've ever eaten (if I may say so myself). The rest of the night I did a little homework and enjoyed the cool weather that the night brings.

Tomorrow there is nothing exciting planned, but the joy of this place is that you never know exactly what's going to happen, so check back with me tomorrow!
