Hi y'all! Yesterday was a pretty basic day. I started the day with my "out and about" with Divian, one of the teachers, and Lauren, one of the students. We went to Boca del Rio (again) which is a little city to the south of Veracruz. We walked through the city and at the end Divian took us to a beach where the river meets the sea (the city's name is translated to mouth of the river... hence the name). It was a great beach. It was clean, the sand was light and very fine, and there was a great line of water washed rocks that mark the line between the river and the sea. The water was nice and blue and warmish and I decided that I wanted to go back in the evening. I had classes during the day that frustrated me to no end, so at the end of the day, I knew it was time to do something nice for myself. I got to talk to Kendra for a minute which always puts me in a better mood :-), and I took off for the beach in a taxi. I got there, dropped my stuff and took off for the water.
I love the water, but everytime I'm in the ocean I'm a little bit taken by how immense it is, and how small I am. Thus, I didn't get in much farther than my hips, but the waves were quite strong, so I ended up with wet hair and a salty face anyway. Later, I sat closer toward the beach in waist high water and enjoyed the sun, and watched some guys surf in the little waves. When it was time to dry off, I laid my wrap on some smooth rocks, put some bob marley on my headphones and sat there for about half an hour. It was terrific. Even when I was dry I was still covered in sand and felt pretty gross taking the bus home with people dressed in their professional clothes. But, that's one of the fun things about the buses in this city. There are people lugging half naked babies and others with expensive brief cases. Such is life I suppose.
The rest of the night went pretty smoothly. Some cold chicken for dinner and about 2 hours of studying. Sorry, not every story can be as exciting as my spitting experience :-).
I miss you guys and hope all is well. Thanks for all the guestbook notes. Hugs (abrazos), Tracey
