Cassis France

Cassis France is the best vacation town I have ever been to. If I was to suggest a week vacation for anyone it would be to Cassis. The town is nestled on the coast of France trapped between mountains, vineyards, and the sea. Cassis is well known for it's white wines and beautiful scenery. the town is perfectly small. I would compare it to Hill city in the Black Hills. If you stand in the town you are surrounded by the sea, the harbor, and the cleanest best looking town I have ever seen. The shops and restaurants remind me of houses you would find in Maine an dthey are all connected together like the buildings in Keystone South Dakota. The restaurants and shops are meters away from the water and feel hundreds of miles away from our fast paced society! the main beach in the town is beautiful. It is a rock beach with mountains on one side and a bay on the other. For the more adventurous, you can take a 3 hour round trip hike to the most pristine beaches I have ever seen. The hike was gruelling and felt similar to hiking the peaks in Western America. There are two beaches on the hike that are in canyons hundreds of feet below towering rock walls. Many people come to the area because it is known for its great rock climbing. The water from the sea comes into these canyons and reaches the beaches after meandering through the bottom of jagged curvy canyons. By the time the water reaches the beaches the surface is perfectly calm and the water is so clear you can see every little pebble on the bottom. The beaches are surrounded by canyons and turquoise water. They look like the beaches one would find in Thailand. The second beach we hiked to looked just like the one from the movie "The Beach." the water was the same color and so were teh cliffs; it was truly amazing. With great food, wine, beaches, mountains, and people I would have to say this would be the best vacation destination I have ever been to.

I will not be able to post photos for this trip till Tim sends them to me. Go to webshots.com and type in Cassis France and you will get many great photos. Check out the beautiful water and cliffs.
