Santorini and Mykonos!

Oh my goodness. I have no words.

This past week was one of the best of my life! After our Athens excursion, our group of 25 people paraded through Athens to Port Piraeus to board a ferry that took us straight to Santorini! It was a ton of traveling to get to the island, but it was well worth it! Our ferry from Piraeus to Santorini was about 6 hours long, and then we didn't get to our youth hostel until about 11pm. Because our hostel wasn't very close to the water, we had to walk a little ways to the coast. No problem, right? Apparently we have no sense of direction...I was with 3 other girls and we ended up walking for 2 hours before finding a beach! It was well worth the walk though...a gorgeous black sand beach with huge waves to play in! Instead of laying out, a few of us just played in the waves for hours bodysurfing and jumping into the waves and whatnot.

The Santorini nightlife is a little more crazy than I like, but I still went out with the other girls in my group. I had a good time, but there are a lot of creepy locals and tourists who will do anything to get with a girl. I was a little bit sad about that.

Our last day in Santorini (we only spent 2 full days) we went on a snorkling excursion! We snorkled around this gorgeous island near a volcano, then through a few caves (the water in the caves was FREEZING because it never sees the sun), then around another black sand beach. I saw so many colorful fish, jellyfish, and so much coral! I also saw a live starfish and snorkled over the dropoff...the water is SO blue so it was really gorgeous!

We headed to Mykonos and didn't do too much on that island. We only had a day and a half on Mykonos, so we went out one night to this really lame nightclub (we ended up doing the macarena for a large part of the time we were there...what does this tell you). On our only full day, I went out on the town with my roommate and we did some shopping, browsing, and of course eating. That night was just spent hanging around our hotel.

Overall, my week off from classes was SO MUCH FUN!!! I am having such an amazing time here...it's sad to think that there are only 13 days left in my study abroad program. We have a full 7 days of classes...UGH! My mom gets to Mytilene on June 6...I am counting down the days! We are also going to Turkey next weekend.

I won't have too much to write about for a while, because my life will pretty much be studying and eating. Talk about lame. Anyway, I miss everyone SO MUCH!!! I'll write again when something exciting happens :)
