So, I arrived safely on Sunday afternoon in Reykjavik after the long 8-hour flight from SFO. I met a cool kid from SFO on the flight and that made the flight bearable....he will be in Norway, Sweden over the next 2 month and might be able to meet up with him.
First night in the Hostel, survived and actually woke up on my alarm (Dan/Sonia belive it..) to go on the Golden Triangle Tour (amazing waterfall, historic buildings, glaciers, geysirs, mountains, and much more)... This tour was really cool, and the scenery reminded me of a tone-downed Alaska with some Yellowstone Geysirs. Cool stuff!!!
Tonight (Monday), I am heading out into town for food and drinks with a gent from New Zealand.... Pretty cool guy (journalist) who is traveling for 4 months between South Africa, Europe, and South America.
I will be in Reykjavik until Wednesday and than heading over to the Southeast coast of Iceland...lots of parks, beaches, glaciers, and hopefully some wild animals!
On a side note, I went out on Sunday night to this cafe/bar....everyone spoke Icelandic with English if necessary. the crowd was generally young in comparison to me with each person holding a cigarette and beer/espresso...the classic element was listening to the background music of Cher, Dionne Warwick, Celine Dion (go Canada), Cyndi Lauper, and much more of the classics! All in all a fun evening!
