Hey everybody!
Get excited...I've left Mytilene! We took an overnight ferry on Wednesday night from Mytilene to Athens. The boat was freaking HUGE but was still really unstable. Luckily for us, no one got sick on the trip over. The ferry ride from the island of Lesvos to Piraeus Port in Athens took 12 hours! It was crazy, but so much fun.
On the way from the port to our youth hostel, we had the opportunity to see a lot of the stadiums used for the Olympics in 2004. We didn't get to go in any of them, but it was SO awesome to see them!
We spent pretty much all day yesterday touring around Athens and seeing the Acropolis. The Acropolis...seriously...is so amazing. I honestly can't describe how awesome it was! It was so surreal. I took tons of pictures, and I was looking at them later, and I still can't believe it's real! We also visited the stadium the first Olympics were held in. It was really cool, but also kind of uneventful.
Our afternoon was spent in Plaka, the shopping district right around the Acropolis. It was really fun, but very busy and very touristy. I got a lot of shopping done for myself and for others...get excited! :)
Last night, a group of about 8 of us went to go see the DaVinci Code at the theatre. I haven't read the book yet (shh!!), so I'm not quite sure what to think of the movie. It was alright, but maybe I'll appreciate it more after I read the book.
The group is about an hour away from leaving the hostel and heading to the port to get on ANOTHER ferry! We are going to Santorini and Mykonos for 6 days, so I'll write after we get home!
