Hey guys,
the internet is very slow and people are waiting so this will have to be quick.
I arrived in the glapogos yesterday, after a two hour "ferry ride" on what was a glorified speed boat, i figured after so long at sea my sea legs would still be fine, but had to try my hardest to keep staring at the horizon to stop myself hurling!!
So we arrived and we were dropped off at our hostel, only we weren´t dropped off at the hostel but instead the daughter of the hostel owner´s house and we have their rooms while they are sleeping on the couch in the stitting room, very dicsoncerting when you walk n in the evening and they are there cuddling in their pyjamas, and in addition the shower is nothing more than a hosepipe sticking through the wall of the outside toilet. The hostel itself is lovely and has onswite showers and all, so since we are paying the same as the people there we are being stroppy and insisting that they move us to the hostel or somewhere equally nice and close.
Had my first day with the tortoises today, they are so cool, and there are really tiny had sized ones and really huge, huge ones like you owuld expect. As far as we can work out we will just be cleaning them out for four weeks, but will hopefully push for other duties as well, still they are fantastic.
Seen lots of the other wildlife too, a few marine iguanas, although ones admitedly showing very little interest in going into the water! Pelecons, a couple of blue footed boobies (hee hee), a heron and some flamingos and loads and load of little lizzards.
he beach is idilic, pristine white beaches and lovely warm sea, we have friday off and Alison the american girl we met in Quito is coming for the weekend, so will hopefully get lots of snorkling done they, although there is no cash point on teh island so am gonna have to be careful with the money.
They people hare seem great and there is a fantastic bar right on the beach, although apparetly good spanish helps with the social life, so i´d better get practicing.
