We just can't leave this place. but apparently we havn't arrived yet. allow me to explain..

We hopped on a night train in mumbai and 12 dusty, hot hours later we arrived in Goa: holiday central for every single indian family in the country. but it's like a little bikini tax haven tucked away in a busy fully clothed country. life here is different then any other place in india. probably the only time any part of my body other then hands and ankles and face will see any form of UV. indian women of course still swim in sari's and men will frolic in the waves in dress pants and button up shirts but we foreigners can strip down and bask -check that, fry- bikini'd in the almost 38 celcius heat. restaurants here serve lasagna and creme brulee. this isn't india. it's paradise compared to the rest of the country, or so they tell me. everyone is here and relieved to get away from the stares and the heat and the curry, they appreciate the freedom. but me, heck i'm just on the beach. havn't had too much of india to get away from. and hence, we havn't arrived yet.

and so, we can't leave. and why would we want to? (yes yes, apart from needing to see the country and experience the shock and be dirty and sweaty and hot and find the meaning of stuff in our lives and find clarity and learn about who we are and on and on and on.) but that can wait a bit. like my good friend once said: we've got a case of the "we'll leave tommorrow" promises. and the beach does that. we spend the mornings on the beach on our usual chairs with the usual amazing people that we've come to love. sometimes spend the afternoon in the beach bar on a 7 course lunch consisting of at least one thing deep fried and an iced coffee. usually get back in the sun to tan the opposide side of the body as the morning and make plans for the evening. after some night swimming we all head in for showers and dinner and a night of amazing laughs. it's quite nice. but we finally mustered up all we had and bought our tickets out. the only thing that made that possible was that they are booked for 6 days from now which, on the indian clock, is years aways.

we'll maybe rent scooters this afternoon and check out some other beaches. and take a scooter road trip around the country tommorrow (holy cow! ha! literally.. i just looked around and there's a massive cow standing on the steps to this internet cafe staring at me through the glass... ha! ok that had nothing to do with anything, but ha! that was funny) anyways.. yes, check out the province of goa and see some sights. more fun is schedule until sunday which is the morning that we catch our train and move our adventures onwards.

well, it's been a slice, as always.

nat x. and aside from a minor case of heat rash on my finger, still healthy.
