Stinking best weekend of my life!
We took a short field trip last Thursday afternoon to this place that let us cook our own Greek food. I made stuffed peppers and tomatoes with a few other girls, then we also rolled some grape leaves. While they cooked our food, we traveled to another closeby village to visit and hang out, then we got to eat all the food we made! And let me tell you, we are GOOD cooks. After our meal, we learned our first traditional Greek dance! I'll show everyone at some point or another. It's really simple, but I think they just taught us that one because we were a little bit uncoordinated.
Friday through Sunday was spent at Eresos, this GORGEOUS city that's across the island from Mytilene. Actually, the founder of the lesbian movement was born and raised there...interesting. The city was absolutely picturesque and amazing. We went swimming every day in crystal blue Mediterranean water and laid out in the sun on somewhat comfortable sand. Our nights were spent with the locals in some random bars (I still only drink water, don't worry), which was interesting and fun. A few of us swam out to this huge rock that was only about a quarter mile away from the shore of the beach. We spent about an hour admiring the GORGEOUS water and scenery..but then we had to swim back because the birds that apparently live on that rock started swarming and attacking. Not so much fun, really.
I'm not really looking forward to going to class, but on Wednesday we're leaving for Athens! I am SO excited to see all the architecture and whatnot. From Thursday until next Wednesday, I'll be island hopping with most of my group. We'll be hitting up Santorini and Mykonos...expect many a gorgeous picture. I'll update more then!
