In Thailand time does not exist, days flow into nights and nights into weeks. Everyday is a beautiful day, and nothing really changes. Except for Full Moon Party. Koh Phangan is famous for the Full Moon Parties thrown every month on the beach of Haad Rin. Surrounding the beach are shuttle boats in the water, fire twirlers in the sand, blaring speakers at every bar, and anywhere between 10-30 thousand people raving with flourescent painted bodies, and buckets of liquor hanging from their hands!! Buckets...yeah of course what goes better with the beach than a bucket. For 150 Baht you can buy a small bucket, filled with a mickey of Sang Som thai whiskey, can of coke, and a bottle of the most lethal Red Bull on the planet. Thai red bull comes in a medicine bottle brown in colour, you can buy it from any bar, or pick one up for 25 baht at the 7-11. Its more or less considered speed with the ephatamines they put in the stuff. Although I was warned from my travel companion, Ryan, I ended up more outta control than I had ever been. See a small bucket was fine to start off the night at around midnight, but when we got into the streets of Haad Rin our group of 4 decided to split on the MEGA BUCKET. This time it was 26 of whiskey, 1.5 litres coke, and TEN bottles of the sweet medicine RED BULL for 100 Baht each. As we each grabbed a floating straw from inside the pit, we celebrated and cheered to Full Moon. My hostel boss and misses from Indy's were there too, for me it was the only place to be. As Ryan and I stuck our heads deep inside the bucket to drain away the remainder of our beverage, we gave each other a huge smile and slurped away!! From that point on till 7am when I woke up at Rys bungalow I did not remember a thing. They all said I had my wits, danced away the night and even made it back to home by myself. I woke up with less than an hour sleep as Ryan told me the party was still on the beach. After a quick stop at 7-11 to refuel with water, oh and I insisted one more bottle of red bull, we were back on the beach kicking sand and trying to find our missing sandals from the previous night. We eventually ended up at the after party Backyard Bar dancing to the hardest trance I've ever heard.
For the past 4 days I have been paying the price for my behaviour but cannot complain. I swing in a hammock all day and when I get enough energy to walk down the street I pop in for a Tradional Thai Massage. Today at home is my Mom's Birthday, so I wanted to send out a special greeting. Because I have been having the time of my life, I find it unfair to everyone at home that are not experiencing these amazing things. Mom I want to dedicate yesterdays massage to you on your birthday, I Love You and hope you had a wonderful one!! I want to dedicate the past week of driving the scooter around this magnificent island, to my brother Rory who has always wanted a bike! All the delicious meals and time left in the day, I want everyone to take their share, there is more than enough to go around...a hundred times!
I have loved every moment of my time in Thailand, and it has been such a great place to look back on my whole trip. I listen to the voice recordings from home and recorded music from my travels in Australia, and still can't believe this has all happened to me. Time is just about over, I have just over 2 weeks till I fly home on my Fathers birthday. Can't wait to see you all, miss and love you heaps!!
