Turkish Baths & Classes

The past few days have definitely been a haven for new experiences!!

On Saturday, all the girls in the group (there are 21 of us) took turns going to something called a Turkish Bath. It sounded really awesome when I first heard about it, except for the catch...you're supposed to go in NAKED!!! I freaked out a little bit, and vowed that I would NEVER do something that crazy with people I JUST met!! Needless to say, on Saturday afternoon, me and 3 other girls stripped down and made the plunge into the Bath. Don't freak out! It wasn't TOO weird...okay...yes it was! The actual bath was pretty small, only a little bit bigger than a normal hot tub. We all sat curled up in balls at opposite ends of the tub, laughing awkwardly the entire time. When it came time to get out, we all laughed and screamed "DON'T LOOK!! DON'T LOOK!!!" and felt like a bunch of 13-year-old girls at a slumber party. It was really awkward, a little bit uncomfortable, but all part of the crazy Greek experience.

On a lighter note, we started classes today. I am taking 2 classes, SOC 100 (Intro to Sociology) and SOC 315 (Sociology of the Family). My intro class is going to be considerably boring. It's 2 hours long and I have it 3 days a week (actually, all of the classes are 3 days a week). It's all lecture and history of sociology, so I'm not too excited about that one. My family sociology class is going to be VERY interesting, and I'm actually pretty excited about it! If I'm correct, I think it includes a stay with a Greek family! My classes are from 9-11am, and then from 11-1pm, so after 1pm, I'm done for the day. This means plenty of time for sunbathing and crossword puzzles by the Mediterranean...

What a rough summer.
