Hey Everyone,
So it's about that time. I probably won't be on the internet much until I get back to the U.S. since I'll now have to start paying for it.
I'm hitting the rough roads of Ecuador on Sunday. I'll be traveling with three girls that were international students at USFQ with me. It should be fun.
We're going to the southern part of the country first. First we're going to the traditionally colonial city of Cuenca. Then we're going to Loja and then to the jungle city of Tena to go rafting. If we have any time left then we're going to the beach. It should be an interesting eight days with them.
I'll be back in Quito on May 22 to do some last minute shopping and then I leave May 23 for the U.S.
I'll be back in the U.S. on May 24, so get the welcome party ready at Flint Airport at about 3pm.
I guess I should do some reflections about this semester. I had a really good time. I would recommend studying abroad to anyone. You learn a new language, new people and you grow in ways that you would have never imagined you could grow. Yes, it's hard at many times when you want to be near familiar faces, eat familiar food, be in your own place, speak a familiar language and go back to you comfort zone. But it's more than worth it. I have friends from all over the U.S. and in Ecuador. It's just sad that you know that you'll never see some of them again. It's also really exciting to know that you can visit others. Now I have a friend in New Mexico to show me around when I go there to work.
If I had to do anything over again with this semester, I would have done this study abroad trip last year, so that I could stay here a year. That way I could actually make more friends and have deeper relationships with them. I wouldn't feel so hurried to visit all these places in Ecuador. I'd more time to do it.
Thank you all for reading my journal. I'm glad that you could hear and see some of the things that I've been doing here. I really wish that you all could have visited me, but maybe my next adventure you can do that. We'll see where that takes me. I've only got two continents left to visit, Anarartica and Australia.
Love you all, besos y brazos
y cuidanse
Yolanda
