At about 10 am the students from Kansas State and university of Texas san Antonio met in the lobby for a 30 minute trek to a nearby vineyard, la pieavuccia. At the winery while getting a tour of the vineyard a couple of UTSA students got attacked by a very mean and over protective goose! After that we got a tour of the olive orchards and bee hives. When the tours finished we were served a fantastic meal. Unlike normal we didn’t drink a lot of wine at lunch. After eating we took a final tour this time of the wine cellars were we saw how the wine we just drank was made. After this we were free to come and go as we please, many left while others stayed behind to enjoy the beautiful day in the shade of the olive trees. Luckily I didn’t stay behind and I left for home. Back at castiglion fiorentino at about 5:30 my school had a tiny little private party with wines, cheeses, olives, and fruits to celebrate finishing the semester the day before. Halfway through dinner the police showed up. With them were several of our students who were to inebriated to stand, and both of them were crying, here’s what happened:

Of those that stayed behind, they made friends with the vineyard owner and while talking to him they finished off the bottles leftover from lunch. When those ran out they bought more. After several hours they were in a deteriorating state of mind and the vineyard master let them loose upon the countryside, that is, after selling Colin 12 more bottles of wine. Halfway home on of the girls from UTSA (who had been attacked earlier by the goose) fell off the road into a creek. Her boyfriend jumped in after her and with him, pulled in tiesman and Colin. At this point while they were playing in the creek another member of the party, colleen, could no longer stand and passed out right in the middle of the road, dropping and breaking two of Colin’s bottles of wine she was carrying. Her boyfriend, Gus, stopped a passing car and got the driver to drive them both back to town to the study center, where he carried her up the stairs to her room. At some point in this process someone called the cops, who arrived after Gus and colleen, finding the two students from UTSA still in the creek. Luckily Colin and tiesman had gotten out of the creek and were sitting on the side of the road pondering on how 2 drunk guys with 4 hands could possibly carry the 10 remaining bottles of wine Colin bought. The cops, hilariously, gave them a bag for their wine, solving that problem, and to solve the other problem, just arrested the 2 UTSA students in the creek. Soon after Colin and tiesman got back to the study center, the police came by to tattle-tale on them, at which point was during our party. Quite a bad time for them to show up, finding us out on a back patio with 22 more liters! Yep things looked bad, and Sharon, one of the people in charge of the study center looked even worse, she was upset! The party basically ended and our last few days at santa chiara was marked by meeting, the banning of alcohol sales to all students, unusually bad grades given out, and Marco on night patrol every night trying to catch both drunk students and/or people from the states who were secretly staying for free at the center (we had 3 girls sleeping on the floor in my room, thankfully we never got caught!)
