After a 4 hour bus ride to Tivoli we arrived on an overcast but nice day to the first sight, the Villa d’Este. Originally owned by a cardinal it’s a nice villa that out back has an amazing 5 level garden jam packed with water features including a 3 story waterfall! It’s the nicest garden I’ve been to yet and was a lot of fun to explore. Nothing much notable aside from the 6 year old gypsy beggars out front of the villa. After a lousy lunch we went just outside of Tivoli to the massive villa Adriana, or Hadrian’s villa. Most of it is in really bad ruin, but some parts like the canopus and the maritime theater were in good shape. I mostly just walked around with friends laughing, joking, having a good time.
