Hello Beloved Friends and Family,
We are back in the States, after a whole year of adventure, holiness, and following our hearts, we have now landed back in America. We weren't planning to come back this early, but as some of you may know that Diana Tonti (Mat's paternal grandmother) passed away last Saturday. We got the call on Saturday night that she passed and Jenny (Mat's sis) found us a plane ticket for 24 hours later. We arrived to NY on monday morning just in time to make it to the funeral on Long Island. Now we are back in Cleveland planning our next steps.
When we have heard about Mat's grandma passing away, we were hosting about 25 people at our house for Seudah Shlishit (the final meal of Shabbat). The atmosphere turned from one of happiness and lightness to one of true love and getting things done. People stayed with us and helped us pack our home up, and just kept us company during the hard transition of knowing we had to leave the next day.
The next day our friend Akiva drove us to the airport and our eyes were teary as many of our friends sang us out of Jerusalem as we walked to the car.
We feel so blessed to have such an amazing community helping us and supporting us during that time. Now being back in Cleveland it feels like 1) we never left and 2) so much has happened. Seriously, we do have some culture shock. The roads are so clean and wide, the trees are so green and lush, the people are so quiet and polite, there are advertisements everywhere, there is such a thing called customer service here, etc.
Anyways, we hope to connect with many of you soon. We will be in Cleveland until Sunday (and will be back for a longer visit in June) and are going to MD next week and will be available until Thursday. Much love, Julie
