How do I even begin my travel story?! My trip has been absolutely incredible so far. At first, I was really nervous and scared because I didn't know anyone, but after only 3 days of being with everyone, I know it's going to be an awesome six weeks! My flights were all very close together, so I definitely sprinted across London Heathrow and Athens International to make it to all of my flights on time...barely. Seriously. Anyway, I made it here safe and sound and am now just in the process of getting used to not understanding anything ever.
We haven't started any classes yet, we've just been touring around the island and getting used to everything. Our first full day here, we had a walking tour of the city we're staying in that ended with dinner at a local restaurant. Unfortunately, the food didn't settle so well with my stomach, and I spent that entire night in the bathroom...I'll spare any details. Pretty much, it wasn't pretty. The next day, I woke up really sick still and went to breakfast, only to realize that there were five sick girls in our group. All of us had to stay back from the tour of Mytilene, which were were upset about, but were also too sick to really care about. I slept for approximately 20 hours that day.
You'll be happy to know that I'm better now! Today (May 10), we toured around the island of Lesvos. We went to Patra and Molyvos, the two most touristy cities on the island, and a monastery. Everything is very beautiful here and MUCH different than anything in the States. It's a lot different than I expected, but not a bad different. A very good different!
I meant to bring my camera to the Internet café to upload some pictures today, but I forgot it. I'll try to remember to bring it next time!
I miss everyone a lot! I'll be able to visit the Internet café about once a week, so keep the emails coming! Love you all!
