Spirits of the Cenotes

Today we went to two cenotes. Cenotes are these caves that have amazingly clear water in them and you can swim, dive and snorkel in them. They are known to the Maya as spiritual places. We went to two cenotes that are connected through an underground passageway, but seeing as how we didn’t have diving gear, we just went to swim. It was absolutely amazing!!! At first when we got in the crystal clear water it was really cold, but it felt really refreshing. But the amazing part was that we really felt connected with the cave and water. You could feel the energy of the place, you could sense that it was ancient and the water was so heavy, you could feel that it was pulling you into the cave. I think we came out of this experience feeling a lot of respect toward nature and closeness with it.
