About three days ago after a night of African drum dancing and lots of drinking, Priya and I decide to get up ridiculously early for the hostel that we were staying at´s free breakfast. we get up at 9am and head down and decide to make ourselves banana pancakes which was an adventure in it of itself. we are standing making our food when these two crazy guys come up, still half drunk from the night before, holding a bottle of vodka and asking whose it was. I shrug and say that I think that it’s the Nepalese guy’s and they say ok and begin chugging the bottle. about an hour later Priya and I come downstairs after packing up our stuff to the Irish guy standing on top of a table wearing a costume and lecturing to the hostel. a costume that was made up of a crazy hat, a blond curly wig, using his towel as a skirt, and a ripped shirt as his top. at this moment the other crazy guy, a really drunk Australian comes out in a similar costume and they are falling all over themselves as they mumble something about a shower and walk into the dorm. a few minutes later they emerge, soaking wet, still in costume, with shampoo and conditioner all over themselves, still jabbering on about who knows what... they were awesome, what a crazy morning.
We had met some really cool people a few days before in Tulum who were camping on a beach in a nature reserve and we decide to hang out with them for a night or two. So they came and picked us up in this hippie van, we climbed in the back, and off we went. We eventually end up in this beautiful area with a gorgeous beach and we were literally the only people on the beach. the white sand beach stretched on forever and it was incredible. We spent the days swimming in turquoise water, reading in the shade of palm trees, and sleeping in hammocks under the stars. it was such an incredible experience. we stayed in this paradise for about three days...i could have stayed forever. regardless, now we are in the crazy tourist destination of Playa del Carmen and wow it’s a culture shock. There are tourists everywhere and all there is to do here is shop and eat, it’s insane, I feel so out of place. tonight we are staying in this creepy mosquito infested hostel (which i am not happy about...I am seriously insanely obsessive about mosquitoes)and tomorrow we’re spending a few days with Priya´s friend and then I’m off for a night in Cancun....then it’s home for some quality time with my cat :) I can’t believe this crazy trip is almost over....
