We are officially in shorts weather and are slowly bringing the locals round to our way of thinking as they are still in suits and layers. For some reason they just dont sweat, its unfair. In the classrooms with 60-70 adolescents the heat is incredible and the odour is more than a little pungent. I taught tongue twisters (zow kou ling) to my no.5 students and i forget about no.6, probably a good thing as I was in no mood to teach this week with the may holiday coming up.
Spent monday looking after josh and just showing him what everyday life is like in china as he had already been to like 4-5 cities in 8 days so he was all sight-seeing out which was ok as Deyang's sights are limited anyway. He also watched one of my classes and took a few pictures which made the kids a bit hyper but thankfully the class was a good one. On tuesday morning I said goodbye to josh who had 24 hours of travel left to get back to NZ.
On wednesday I was sick in the morning but had a staff football match in the afternoon so I had to get well quickly. Thankfully I was fine and actually played well and we won 3-0 against no.2 middle school. Afterwards we went out drinking and thankfully Barry came along otherwise it could have been awkward. anyway the food was ridiculously spicey and actually made your eyes water. Barry tried to say chicken (ji) to someone and the man began showing off his muscles. We remembered 5 minutes later that (ji) also means muscle so the guy thought Barry wanted to see his muscles lol!!! We were toasted every 5 minutes and were drunk very quickly. It became ridiculous when we found out that the headmasters basketball team had also won and we met up. In the space of 5 minutes we had to down over 2 pints just from toasts, and we were already drunk. Afterwards we attempted to play snooker and table tennis but our co-ordination let us down, unsurprisingly!!!
On Friday went for hotpot with Carrie, Enoch etc. Getting into the habit of spitting all the bones and stuff on the floor. When I get back home my tablemanners, and my speach manners in general i suppose, will be awful. Anyway afterwards we went to the internet place and Li Yi helped me to set up a QQ address. (keep getting names confused as Li Yi is a girl who has a bofriend called Yi Li who I am also friends with). We stayed their for ages as Barry was desperately trying to compete with Enoch on a dancing game, an impossibility in China, he is amazing at them.
The next morning I went with Yi Li to play PS2 and then met up with Barry for lunch. Afterwards we went and booked our tickets to YiBin and also bought gym memberships for when we got back. The gym is a bit shady but it is also very cheap. We bought a ton of DVDs and watched them for the rest of the day. We went to bed early after packing as our bus left at 08:30 the next morning.
