Hi everyone. Sasha and Shei here. We are hangng out in Buenos Aires, Argentina, doing the usual things and just enjoying having a lot of free time and enough money to buy a bunch of stuff that we couldn´t afford when we worked and saved while in Australia. We have been planning for our upcoming trip to the famed beaches of Punte del Este, Uruguay (well, they are famous here anyway!). I am also planning to head off to some pristine patagonian lakes for a spot of fly fishing with my father, Alberto. My Mum and sister are flying out to visit us in about a month so we have been making plans for the places that we will show them. We are all going to head up to the spectacular Iguazu Falls as well. I have been to Argentina quite a few times and this´ll be my first trip there so i am really keen to go. Recently it has been crazy hot in Buenos Aires. We have been taking advantage of the pool here in Velia´s house. I also went out to Alberto´s country house about 40mins out of town. It is in one of the many private country clubs here in Buenos Aires. They are surrounded my walls and armed guards. It is really big with its own streets, shops, sports facilities and 100s of houses. Some families live there all the time but i think most just live there on the weekends. Many move in permanently during the long hot summers. Inside it is a whole differentt world from that of normal life in Buenos Aires. It feels like a surreal “Leave-It-To-Beaver” everybody is happy, nothing bad happens type universe. Everybody smiles and is friendly, even to strangers like me. Cars drive super slowly along the litle streets. Pedestrians and cyclists have right of way. It is amazingly safe. It only feels to weird because as soon as you leave, you have to be on your guard again and everybody tenses up, locks their car doors and takes the highway to Capital Federal. We recently put up some newish photos that we just had developed. This roll had been in the camera for ages so some of the photos are a little aged. Some are from northern Argentina and some are from our adventures here in Buenos Aires. My favourite is of Gracielito, Shei´s turtle. The little guy is pretty much wild in their garden. He looks after himself, munches away on the flowers, and explores the garden. He is a speed demon though, I thought turtles were supposed to be slow, but Gracielito is like speedy gonzales. I didn´t put up the one of me covered in 100s, maybe 1000s, of chicken pox welts. It is too nasty for words. I don´t know how Shei put up with me ´cause i was super poxy. Thank god it´s over now. I still have a few little permanent reminders of that nightmare 2 weeks but i have been told they will diminish with time. I just cut off my dreads and have a pretty damn short haircut. It was getting too hot to have dreads here, i also felt the need to wash my hair, so it was definitiely time for the chop. Sheila played hairdresser and did the big cut then we went off to get it fixed up by a pro. She also had a new funky haircut done a few days ago. Shei has been practising her songs quite a bit. Using some connections over here we have managed to hook up a great recording studio for Shei to put down a demo of some of her newer songs. The currency conversion is definitely in our favour over here and it costs maybe a 1/4 of what it would in Sydney. Well, that is all from me, hope you are all happy and healthy , love sasha and sheila
