Finally in a new country. Havent done that much yet but just arrived.
From Chaing Mai it took us three days of travel to get to Luang Probang. First a bus to the border then a boat for 2 dys. IN Chiang Mai we met some crazy cool english people that we have been spending all our time with. They are all fantastic. One girl Anne left us two days early because her visa ran out. But we have now caught up with her again.
The hostel at the border was called Uncle BOBs. Uncle Bob was a drunken thai dude. He was so hilarious. A girl we were traveling with had rain coming in through her roof that night and went up to complain. He justed laughed and gave her an umbrella. So funny. In the end she got a new room. HEHEHAHA
Crossed the border and got on what they call a speed boat. A little over 6 hours on a small boat down the Mekong River. It was gorgeous. We were mostly lying in the back of the baot by the engine. It was really loud but so nice to not have to sit on the small benches the other people had to in the front. We also sat at the very very back of the boat. There was only us there so it was lovely.
The first night in Laos was not very nice at all. We had to stay at a place that was only really ment for a stopover for all the slowboat travellers. Heaps of people were asking for money and kids were asking for sweets and just following our every move. Eva has a really hard time with that. It is really discomforting. Got to a hostel that had huge rats and in our room there were like 30 - 40 bees making a nest. Horrible. Got on the slow boat the next day and we were not allowed to sit in the back of the boat. This journey was long. About 9 hours. I finished my wierd book. Eva finished hers and we played some games.
Even if it was long it was fantastic at the same time. We saw buffalo on the banks, men fishing, children swimming, a hidden temple in a rockformation. It was amazing scenary. Got to Luang Probang and we are amazed. Its such a beautiful place aswell. And the people here are absolutly fantastic.
The second day of our stay here we rented bikes and took a tour of the town.
Laos is about to have a huge fextival soon. 13 or 14 of april until the 16 th or so and the kids have already started to celebrate a little. They spray water on you in the streets with guns and buckets and everything they can use. It was quite fun til we had an accident. Yesterday we were peddeling along the riverside and we stopped to get some water and we saw a gang of kids up ahead and thought maybe we should turn around. Anne sayed ah, come on guys its only a little water. So we headed throught the spray from both sides and could hardly see anything. Our friend and a motorbike hit. Didnt really see what happened. Shewas bleeding from her nose and lip and has chipped 4 or 5 teeth very badly. The guy on the motorbike was bleeding from his head. They both went to the hospital. He actually had her teeth stuck in his forehead. They are both fine. We met up with the police today. Told them the story and got everything sorted. A man from our hostel was of gr8 help. He went to the hospital and helped us with the police. Amazing guy.
So now our friend is heading for Thailand again to get her teeth fixed and we will hopefully meet up with her later when she has her amazing smile back.
Today we are just chilling and maybe catching a movie tonight. They have a cinema where you can rent private rooms and choose whatever movie you want. Sounds good to take it easy after everythiong that happened.
Hope all is well with everybody. Everything is fine with us.
