We got up at 6am and went to a station outside Kandy to get the 8.45 am train to Ella. One of the best train journeys in the world and probably the slowest! We did not arrive in Ella till 4pm! We had the front seat in the observation carriage. Not quite as grand as it sounds. Obviously, I took lots of photos.
We stopped on one occasion because someone had fallen off the train. This seems to be routine and three blokes got off, to go and look for him. The train rarely goes faster than 15km/h but, on the other hand, there are some shear drops. Hope he was OK. Ella is beautiful. We are staying at the Hill Top guesthouse. Real hot water and you need it here because, although the weather is warm the water is not. The evening meal was very good, on a par with the Madugelle's cook.
