Hi, So I am now in Barbados and this is gonna be my first entry in my travel journal, keeping you all updated on my travels and all the exciting and excellent things i am doing.
So the day before leaving I went up to Liverpool to see Maggie and Maz and go to the circus!! Genious idea of Maggie's, as i haven't been to the circus for years, and there we saw lots of people doing truely inposible things, i swear they were not possible and it was all just a mass haluciantion. Particually impressive was the face of 1000 masks trick, which saw so girl changing her face every fraction of a second, the description doesn't do it justice, but as i said, not possible, was also very impressed with people running up vertical poles.
So after this it was off to the bar to relax with some farewell drinks. So crazy poet dude then purswaded us to let him write a poem about my travels, which is was organised I would have with me and reproduce, put hey you know me. on the same theme may be a while till the first pictures arive as i left the conection cable in the hostel, oops, that was clever.
So after very few hours sleep we headed off to the airport, remebering the clocks had gone forward. Checked in my bag, spent 4 pounds on an inediable sandwich and just had time to say a quick Hi and Goodbye to Maz before rushing though to departures. Not that i had to rush however as it turned out the plane was delayed by 40 mins, oh well that's airports.
On the flight I met a couple of Barbadan guys, who refused to let me sit sullenly and watch the inflight movie and insisted on being sociable and we got through copious amounts of free wine (i'm so flying with virgin again)and it made the flight so much more fun. It was a very cool flight, there was loads of space and everyone was very happy and jolly about going so a good atmosphere through out.
The guys offered to give me a lift to my hostel, which after otaining assurance that they were not whisk me away down some dark trap i accepted. This was where the fun stated, as the hostel was nowhere to be found. So we drove around for an hour or so, before setting up based at Mark's house, mark owns his own construction company (very rich, spent 125,000 pounds on a car!!!!, insane) anyhow he got pretty much the whole of his company trying to contact this hostel and located it, but with no luck. Finally at about 8pm we gave up and decided to go to the pub (or rum house as they are known here) on the way we finally go through to the hostel and manage to get directions, but by then we were on our way out and crashing in the spare room seemed a good idea.
The bar was excellent, outdoors, very lively and evryone was so firendly, i think i've met about half of Barbados already, also there were people of all ages there, which i liked, since England seems to have an unwriten rule that if you reach a certain age you cant go out. also managed to shock almost every one with the whole Rocket Scientist conversation.
So all was going well till the jet lag court up and i parctically fell asleep in the bar, so then i was taken home. On the way back we stopped to get some food and i was put in charge of holding it till we gop to the house, but of course i fell asleep whilst holding it and managed to spill sweetcorn all over the 125,000 pound car, oops!!!!
So this morning I was woken at 8:10 and went to my hostel, drop off my stuff and headed out. Have been to the tourist office, which is really really hard to find if you are a toursit and hence don't know where it is, have picked up flyers and am now going back to a nice posh cafe i was just in to get anouth fruit punch before going to check out diving courses and with a bit of luck getting up to Spritztown to go to a nature reserve.
So, bit of a longwinded first entry. take care all of you and Maz and Maggie it was great to see you.
Ta ra, i'm off to enjoy the sun.
