Do you love Dominica?

Dominica was fun. We did a 19 kilometer, 7 hour hike in the mountains to the Boiling Lake. I can hardly walk today. I feel pretty proud of myself and I can't believe I did it really. My calves feel like rocks. We also visited the Carib Indian Territory today. It's very poor from what we saw. We just drove though on a main road with a guide and stopped at the woven basket shops along the way. The Caribs look almost Asian to me, like Vietnamese or Hmong. We were planning to go to Dominica from Wednesday to Sunday but couldn't leave until Friday so we had to pack a lot into the 2 1/2 days. I like the way they talk. They use the word "plentiful" so much more than I ever have. For example, "There are plentiful palm trees here." They also say "Do you love...?" all the time where we would say "Do you like...?" For example, "Do you love woven baskets?" or "Do you love driving in the mountains?" It sounds a bit like Jamaican English to me. And everyone said "Avery... that's where you keep the birds, right?" Because in British English they pronounce aviary like Avery. We stayed in a pretty dumpy hotel and had some mediocre meals, but the pineapple and mango smoothie this afternoon made up for it all. Good times! Hope you all are well; see you very soon!
