|  | | I've been riding elephants! | | | | | I got up early today to go ride the elephants. We were driven into the jungle where all these elephants are they have been rescued from being used in the deforestation; they are made to carry logs and stuff. The Thais there were great they each have along stick with a metal point on the end. As the elephant’s skin is so thick they have to poke it under the leg where the skin is softer to control it.
The elephants were amazing so huge and graceful. We sat in pairs on them with the handler walking beside us telling it where to go. I loved every minute of it. They see to be able to walk over all sorts of terrain and easily walked up river to a waterfall deep in the jungle. Here we had a break and some of us (not me because I was hung over) played in the water.
After the walk back we where allowed to feed the elephants bananas, an elephants mouth is so strange and they really can eat a hell of a lot of bananas.
Then we drove back to the jungle huts and hung out for the rest of the day by the river.
Where we were staying I found out that at 5pm everyday a group of about 20 monkeys come to the other side of the river to sit on the rocks and be fed food which you can give them. So we all swam across the river and sat and waited for the monkeys with a bunch of bananas. They came in a big group and where so cool, they would take the bananas out of your hand as you gave them to them. There was one huge male one that bullied all the others and was well aggressive so I threw a banana at him.
That night we had a nice meal and then played more drinking games. Everyone seems to just be trying to get me drunk but as the alcohol is so cheap I might as well take the advantage. I was the only person who had a card named after me where if a Jack came up I had to drink whatever, so unfair.
