Drum Beach
We get on a train down to Tel Aviv early that afternoon, arrive at the central train station, get on a bus, and off near the beaches of central Tel Aviv. We head out to Drum Beach for the Drum Circle. We bring in Shabbat with everyone beating on the drums, dancing, and fire dancing. I really want to learn how to spin poi. After hanging out there for hours we check into our hostel and decide to head out to the Rocky Horror Picture Show in northern tel aviv. Everyone is half naked, dressed in only their underwear (and it was freezing) and of course Israeli time meant that although they said 11 they didn't let us in until about 12:30 and they didn't start until 1. It had horrible sound quality and the call lines were an incoherent mixture of hebrew and english. Not only that everyone was about 16 and it was a big orgy. We were all sitting (we were the only ones sitting)uncomfortably watching the craziness around us and Andrew and Rob were sleeping and we'd lost Kelly in the mass of people. We eventually grab Kelly and ditch out of that madness, get ripped off for a cab ride back to central Tel Aviv, and head back to our hostel which it turns out is next to a loud club and everything shook all night. The next morning Shana gives us some directions to find the Shirouts heading back to Haifa and we walk to the central train station area and there are no shirouts. Turns out we walked an hour in the wrong direction...So we decide to actually look at our map and realize that we had to walk miles in the other direction through a terrible area of time. Eventually we made it back to haifa, and the busses began running again so we found our way from Hadar back to the University.
