The Dominican Republic ocupies the 60% of the island La Hispaniola, second greater antilly, West Indies, in the Caribbean Sea. Here was where spanish colonizers leaded by Columbus firt stablished.
We are considered as the most biodiversed land in the Caribbean Sea and the third most biodiversed island in the world according to it's territory.
On the top on the Central Mountains System you can find the Pico Duarte (Duarte Mont), named like that in honor to the Father of Our Nation, the patriot Juan Pablo Duarte, who gave us the independence on Feb. 27th 1844. It's 3,087 meters high (10,125 ft.)
Here you can find a lot of 5 stars resorts in front of the nicest sandy beaches same as nice landscapes in the forest and all around. Also a lot of cultural tourism, full of traditional historical buildings and ruins from the colone era.

Our country is known as the Land of Merengue, because that is the hot sensual tropical rythm from my country, is know as our most popular folk music, known all around the Americas and part of Europe.
