i had such a crazy weekend, it was awesome. on thursday my friend khald and i went to his bedouin village in the north of israel and ate this awesome bedouin food his mom made. it was such an adventure to get there, we had to hitchhike most of the way. on thursday night my friend maton and i decided to go to jordan so i took the train down to tel aviv and early friday morning we drove 5 hours to eilat (southern point of israel). on the way we stopped at this crazy rest stop with a dog that sleeps on top of a donkey and there was a tiger. don´t ask. so anyways, we cross the border and get in a taxi and the taxi driver is this really nice bedouin who takes us to see the sunset in wadi rum (a gorgeous desert area) and then takes us to this crazy hostel near petra where we walked into a room with a half naked japanese guy... on saturday we got up at 5am and heard the muslim call to worship- if you´ve never heard it it is so beautiful, and people in jordan are very religious, they pray five times a day. we were driving on friday at the time for afternoon worship and you could see truck drivers pulled over on the side of the road with their prayer mats out... itøs cool, everyone is praying everywhere. anyways, we were in petra for like 8 hours, it was amazing, i will send you all pictures. jordan has the rugged beauty of the southwest desert with all this amazing architecture and it was so amazing. there are people there who still live in caves in the park. since we were there so early we didnøt have to deal with all the annoying tourists, we were able to see the super touristy stuff before they got there. afterwards the taxi driver picked us back up and was sad that we didn't have time meet his family because the border was closing soon and we had to get home.... and they drive like maniacs but on the way we were able to see aaron´s tomb high up on a mountain, it was cool. we drove back to tel aviv in this crazy fog, but we got back safe :) and today maton had class so i went to tel aviv university with him and my friend israel picked me up on his motorcycle and we drove to yafo to buy a nargila (hookah) and eat amazing hummus. it was such a good time!!! miss you all, and i will see you soon (i go home in three weeks! crazy!!!).
