Design, Design, and more Design!

So as the title states, I have been a busy bee lately working hard on a couple different projects. Which projects you ask? Well, I just recently decided to submit a design into the international 2007 Michelin Design Competition, who's theme is to design a safer car for the driver, other drivers, bikers, and pedestrians. Not that exciting right? That's what I thought until I started diving into the copious amounts of research on the subject. Ever heard of Vehicle-Infastructure Integration? Neither had I, so all the research has really been paying off. The only problem is that now I have all this data and in order to start my ideation process I have to start doing something that isn't so fun... organize. There are so many saftey technologies out there right now that I am going to start grouping them according to their respective purpose (active or passive protection).

Now, this is just one project that I have going. The next is my school project of redesigning the interior of the Laholm drawing museum. We made or first presentation of the project last week. It was recieved very well, and spurred a lot of ideas from both the design group(I am working with 7 other designers) and those related to the museum (curator, architect, council members, etc). Overall, it is exciting for me to get a chance to work hand-in-hand with all these other designers, and then on top of that to have the possibility of affecting a community (in ANOTHER country...) has been pretty cool. Our next presentation is next monday. It marks our middle point of the project, as it is fairly short timeline. We are supposed to have multiple drawings/concepts and image/mood boards (I'm still crossing my fingers that this is possible). After that we will be refining a couple concepts and then presenting them with the hope of getting them produced and used by the museum. TV crews, local newspapers, etc will be there for our final presentation... no pressure right?

Finally, on top of the top two projects, I am also pursuing an on-going goal of becoming a better visual artist, both digitally and analog. Even more than that, I have started thinking about the possiblities of getting into transportation design. It is something that has always interested me, yet not looked into. So, I have been looking through books, websites, and instructional videos on the techniques of drawing cars. Surprisingly there is a lot more to drawing a car then a couple ovals, a little perspective, and some cool rims. Reflections (something I had never dealt with), line quality/weight, proportions, material accuracy, and basically everything else all are required to make a car drawing look good.
So, with all that going on, it has been a very busy, yet fun week.

Ok, now onto other things then design. I am still having internet problems, so Skype and other ways of contacting you guys is still being handicapped. These problems are being "worked out" I am told, yet I will continue to try to update this journal. I also want to thank everyone that has been emailing me or messaging me on facebook, as I love hearing from home. Especially, thanks Grandpa for the e-mail spam, that turned out to be a great email filled with tons of beautiful images. I love all you guys, and hope everything is going well back home.
