Hello All,
First of all, I'm back and alive again and have survied my month out in the Savannah of deepest rural Tanzania. Thank you very much to all those who sent me emails, it was great to get back to a PC after a monht away and catch up on the lastests goings on. Currently I am in Dar es Salaam today with a nice gut infection fro companyy which is causing me to spray the walls, so i'll keep this one short lest i mess up this internet cafe. The photos of the trip and my rather impressive beard will have to wait as well. Hopefully tomorrow i will be able to eat and wander about without my legs crossed. Stupid thing is for two months I have been A1 ok and its only after I left Camp i got ill.
The Savannh was great but i am so glad to be back on the road again, for a month i have been living in very basic conditions, eating very simple food and trekking out to carry out wildlife surveys. As far as wildlife went we didn't see very much which was disappointing, but did get some close encounters with a couple of snakes and Camelion plus the very irritating vervet monkeys. I can know track various large mammals from there foot prints and poo, but to be honest I don't think I'm cut out for convservation work. It was great however since the trip gave me much time to sit back in a hammock and chill out.
I should be on my way to Moshi today to climb killi or Meru but instead I've been laid up in bed hopefull the drugs I'm taking will kick in and I should be fit to travel tomorrow. The forest is amazing, there is just so much noise and its so good to be out being one with nature, the view at night on a clear day was truly breaktaking. I have met some cool people too and its good to know some other people are going through the same what am I doing with my life questioning. I hope everyone is fine, please keep the messages coming. Expect a big update in the next couple of days and some photos to be added.
So looking forward to the the next few weeks, Safari and mountain climbing here i come.
