So....cold......

Those of you who know me will know that I like hot weather. I like it when you walk out of an air-conditioned shop and the heat hits you like a brick wall, the kind of heat where everything alive slows down as it's too much effort to do anything at more than the slowest speed and even the palm trees swaying in the breeze do so as if moving more than a frond at a time is too much like hard work.

Well, this morning I got down to the street from my flat and the cold was so intense it took my breath away. It actually took my breath away, I've heard the saying before but within minutes I could actually feel the moisture in my mouth and nose freezing with every breath I took. Getting to work and sitting by the heater was the only thing I could think of, once my hands had defrosted and I could get on the internet I started checking all the weather websites and discovered that accourding to the BBC the temperature in Brno was minus 28 degrees. My first thought was "That can't be right" but every site I could find was saying similar.

At least the sun is shining in the clear blue sky, unlike the grey, damp winters I'm used to from the UK, and anyway, accourding to Michaela once it's below minus 15 it all feels the same anyway! Still, can't help thinking about those parm trees swaying in the warm evening breeze...
