This is the first ciber cafe we have managed to find.
The trip over from Paris was fine. They started the flight by marching down the aisle of the plane with insecticide foggers. 10 and a half hours later, we landed in Tana.
The first trip was to a plateau that was about 110°F where we looked for Radiated tortoises. They were all in the shade of the massive bayobab trees. We found, counted and sexed about 20 tortoises.
On New Year's Eve we had our Malagassy wedding. This consisted of us sitting down in the Chief/Mayor's office and signing the village register. Afterwards there was singing and dancing by the local women and we were served the choicest pieces of a roast chicken.
Everyone was so worn out from the previous afternoon's walk that we all went back to the hotel and went to sleep even though the guides had 6 bottles of champagne for us. We were wiped out.
We were thankful for the hotel. It had a private bathroom (sit down type) and also a shower - no hot water but a shower none-the-less. It felt so good to be clean.
The hotel was on the beach and the water was blue green and looked like a jewel, just like the pics. you seen in travel brochures.
Seeing that computers are so few and far between, we will probably be uploading stories that are not in chronological order. More to come.
