Two weeks ago, Lizzie and I decided to go to the fancy hotel Sandy Lane. It’s very well known and apparently a beautiful place on the west coast, so we couldn’t resist.

We had our story down for the security. We’d tell him that we wanted to make appointments at the spa, and he had to let us in since the spa at the hotel is open to guests as well as to the public.

However, we didn’t realize how huge the hotel is. It’s more like 4 of the towns of Barbados all in one area. There are two parts to the hotel, one part is the right of the highway and the other part is to the left. It doesn’t actually look like a typical hotel, it’s more of a closed private community with homes. But the homes, which are the villas guest rent out for their vacations, are actually giant mansions. We found out that a typical villa goes for 10000 dollars US. I’m hoping that’s a package deal and not per night. Anyways, the part that is the right of the highway doesn’t have a security guard so we thought we’d walk around a little. The villas looked beautiful and there were tennis courts and another large piece of land I’m not sure what it was used for. As we were exploring one of the roads, we say an actual green monkey coming towards us.

I stopped in my tracks and told lizzie to stop too and pointed out the beautiful monkey. He stopped too a bit straddled by us as well, waiting for a moment and went into the bushes so he could climb the tree. As we followed him with our eyes, we say in the trees four more of the wonderful monkeys. They all looked at us and we stared back. One of them was busy peeling a plantain to enjoy and the others were moving from branch to branch. I have never seen animals like that roaming around wild and free. It was amazing.

We continued on our exploration and decide we had to cross over to the other side and work out charm with the gurad.

I walked up to the booth shining my pearly whites and told him we both had appointments at the spa. No questions asked he called in for us and let us in.

What a gorgeous set up this resort had. The pool we walked through to get to the spa was so cool and had waterfalls. The spa lobby alone was pretty and we talked to the receptionist and said we were interested in making appointments. We looked through their therapies and decided on a back treatment for the following week. After we made our appointments I wasn’t done exploring.

I had heard about the famous golf course at the hotel where tiger woods plays all the time and decided I had to see it. I asked if there was a golf pro shop I could buy gifts and he said he’d call for the shuttle. SUCCESS. The nice airconditioned car picked us up and drove us ten minutes across the way up the hill to the golf course. We looked around at the shop and I actually did buy a gift and we decided to splurge and eat at the golf café, which faced the golf course. What a day.

So this past Friday, Lizzie and I made it back to Sandy Lane, and had our day at the spa. It was very pleasant with access to a nice relaxation room, which had fruit and iced tea. The back treatments were splendid and then we had fun talking in the sauna, steam room, ice room, and even took a mint mist shower. It was well worth the money.

Halloween

I celebrated Halloween Saturday night with my friends, I hope you haven’t looked at picture yet, but if you have you would have seen that I was a football player. I was a Brasil team player and had a teammate, Christian who wore a white Brasil jersey. I even wore shin guards to get into the whole football thing. The night was crowded but lots of fun dancing and seeing what other people dressed up as. The best picture of the night was Christian and I posing as if Brasil won another game. We laughed so hard afterwards; it is by far my favorite picture I have taken in Barbados.

I recently say the movie City of God. It’s based in Brasil and is excellent. I recommend it to everyone, but it’s pretty violent and disturbing.

Lastly, 52 more days until I’m finally home. YAY.
