First day in Peru

Puerto Maldonado was the first place Billie and I, stayed in Peru. It was quite the culture shock. As soon as we stepped out of the plane, the humidity hit us hard. A far cry from Alberta. Jungle Boogie: Part 2

The birds in the jungle get pretty lively at sun-up, but I nonetheless had a nice sleep. We were to go for a hike today to Lake Apu Victor. In order to combat eh mosquitoes, I wore long pants, a hat, and a long sleeved shirt. I didn´t consider the fact that it was 35 degrees and 80% humidity out. That, plus the fact that mosquitoes seemed to bite me...


Jungle Boogie: Part 1

We left the hotel at 8:30 to go to the airport in Cusco to fly to Puerto Maldonado. The flight was only half an hour, putting us in Puerto Maldonado at about 11:30. We had to wait for 2 more travellers and then were on our way to the EcoAmazonia Lodge via motorized canoe. The boat ride lasted about 1-1/2 down a murky river surrounded on both sides ...
