DAY 8 - TAUPO DRAG RACING

Big event of the day was going to the 'SUMMER SLAM' event at Taupo International Drag Strip. Our first visit to a drag racing event, & it would be pretty accurate to record that I was more excited than Margaret! Even so, she started seeing what it was all about after a while. DAY 7 ROAD TRIP - TAUPO

The day started with Mag going out for a run at 7.45am. We planned the route together, take about an hour. 9 oclock came & went, no problem. 10 oclock came & went, starting to worry. 11 oclock came & went, & I was driving around trying to find the hospital. She got back after 11.15, & we estimate she covered about 12 miles, a bit stiff & tired...


DAY 6 ROAD TRIP - TAUPO.

Happy New Year! Strolled around the town, perused a lakeside art show, & then walked along the lake for a while. Found a super attraction, called Taupo Lake Hole in One Contest. Anchored offshore is a raft with a large opening, & the idea is to hit your golf ball into the hole, the unusual bit being hitting golf balls out into the lake. Picnic ...


DAY 5 ROAD TRIP - TAUPO (New Years Eve)

Jessie & Dave were up at 4am, on the road home by 4.30. Mag & I cleared up the cottage, & set off for Taupo by 10.30. Easy drive, about 90 minutes, & it was easy to find the Bergerhoff Hotel & Backpackers Lodge. Nice double room with ensuite, but mag was a little taken aback that the average age of the other guests seemed to be about 18!!! W...
