Kobe Travel Stories
Kobe
Tuesday was Culture Day here (bunka no hi) so we had no classes. Now, the last holiday was Sports Day (taiiku no hi), a day I celebrated by sleeping in till 11.30, but Culture Day is something I can actually get behind. So, Osaka Castle it is! First off, going to Osaka means I get to ride the trains extensively which is ridiculous amounts of fun, especially since the Hankyu line trains of huge windows and big plushy benches. And it means ge...

Sushi Time!
Okay, I'm only covering this because I ended up taking several pictures while there. So, rather than do normal-person Halloween activities, a couple of us ended up going to find a proper sushi restaurant for the first time since arriving. I know. How we let it go so long is beyond me. Well, it was predictably awesome. Everything else will seem kind of tame...

Also, officially a bad word for its film selection: no, watching Transformers 2 dubbed in Japanese is not a prospect that particularly interests me. So, Angels and Demons dubbed into Japanese. Fun, fun. The entire journey went of completel...

Sayonara, Japan!!!
After being snowed out of the volcano experience in Aso, we moved on to the wonderful city of Kyoto. Ironically the two biggest tourist cities in Japan share the same set of letters Tokyo and Kyoto). Kyoto is one of the old capitals of Japan, and the rumor is that Tokyo was named by the Japanese Jumble champion some 300 years ago. Kyoto. This city is rich in history. It houses many wonderful temples, and castles. Our personal favorites ...
