Exploring the backwaters of Alleppy

Finally got out of Munnar and made it back to the coast of Kerala. There's not much to do in Alleppy itself but as most people do, I used it as a place to organize a boat trip into the famous backwaters. Basically there are a lot of small traditional villages scattered on islands throughout the backwaters of Kerala where people live mainly by rice farmi...


Better Late Than Never

It seems like the last entry of my trips always gets lost in the process of getting home. One reason, is the massive amount of un-plugged traveling that is involved in getting from the last sight to home. In this case, the journey was truly epic. It involved a short train ride from Alleppey to Kochi, from where we would catch a 36 hour train to Mumbai, ...


Catching some Wicked air

... and awoken by them strenously bringing up their phlem in the morning! A bit breakfast and a leisurely punt back to base. It was a shame to end it as we were all now completely chilled out ... ... but not for long! Andrea and I caught the local bus Allepey to Kottayam which was absolutley rammed with people, and chickens bulging from the win...


Like thunder she strikes!

We’d met up with an English couple that we’d me in Gokarna (Nick and Lisa) and hired a backwater boat for 24 hours. The boat is a wicker-type construction thing - the same that is was used for transporting rice about the area. It had two rooms each with a bathroom and a little lounging area at the front where we could order about (joking) our two punter...
