Choo. Choo. Bam. Boo

Battambang is the second largest town in Cambodia but it's not as touristed as Phnom Penh or Siem Reap because there's not much draw other than a couple of temples and the Bamboo Railway. We didn't visit any temples because we were saving our selves for Angkor but the Bamboo Railway was excellent. It's a dis-used railway line that is (illegally) used...


Battambang

We arrived in Battambang by boat. A largely overcrowded boat that listed worryingly to the right, a problem that was exacerbated by all the bags being on that side, the people on the top deck seemingly preferring that side (?) and the stairs from the upper deck being on that side. The water level of the river was so high that, often, we had to scrape ...


Week nine - Siem Reap - Battambang - Bangkok - Ko Tao - Ko Pha Nang

Week nine has been another week of callosal journeys and very uncomfortable ones at that: Siem Reap to Battambang in a speed boat that had no speed and took 7.5 hours, a taxi from Battambang to Poipet on the Thai border with another 4 hours to Bangkok in a mini van. Bangkok to Chumpon on a night bus followed by the last leg of the journey on a a ferry...


Arrived Alive... Somehow

Motorcycle to sation, with bags, beautiful train, bumpy ride, almost fell of the roof, dad did a James Bond carrage roof jump, used more film than a Kubric production, no tolets on train, half the cargo fell of the train, almost fell throuh a hole in the floor, left the train half way, got on a "pick-up" (the back of a ute) and almost hit a cow, in Batt...
